BMUV releases National Circular Economy Strategy (NKWS)
January 25, 2025
🌻 The protection of natural resources, the efficient use of raw materials, and the extraction of secondary raw materials from 🚮 waste or residues are of high importance not only for people and the environment but also for the German industry, whichn highly depends on imports for several raw materials.
With the development of the National Circular Economy Strategy (NKWS), another step has been taken toward a comprehensive circular economy. The goal is to reduce the consumption of new raw materials by circular economic practices:
✅ Decreasing the consumption of new raw materials
✅ Closing material cycles by ensuring all raw materials, from construction materials to textiles and industrial metals, are reused
✅ Reducing dependency on raw material imports
✅ Avoiding waste as much as possible
Further information on the topic ♻️ circular economy, including figures and examples on waste recovery or recycling, can be found on the reporting portal of D-EITI at Recycling
